Understanding your Child’s Autism Assessment report, and what happens next - Constellation Healthcare

After your child completes their autism assessment with our multidisciplinary team, you will receive a comprehensive autism assessment report. This report brings together the team’s findings based on their clinical evaluations, observations and developmental history to build a complete understanding of your child.

What your Child’s Autism Assessment report contains

Your child’s autism assessment report reflects the professional insights and clinical opinion of our psychologist and multidisciplinary team. It will:

  • Provide a diagnosis (if applicable)
  • Explain the findings from the ADOS‑2 and ADI‑R
  • Offer clear, tailored recommendations for follow‑up supports
  • Identify services, strategies and interventions that can help your child thrive

Our reports are sector‑leading, recognised by the HSE, primary and secondary schools, and educational support services across Ireland.

This makes the report useful not only for parents but also for everyone involved in supporting your child.

Who uses the Autism Assessment Report?

Your child’s report is an important document that may be used by:

  • You and your family
  • Your child’s school or SENCO team
  • Your child’s GP
  • Other healthcare or educational professionals who may support after the assessment

The report may include some medical or technical language. This is intentional — it ensures the document provides clarity and clinical detail for professionals working with your child.

Your online Feedback session: what to expect

Once your child’s report is complete, we will arrange an online feedback session with your psychologist. This is the final step of our private autism assessment service.

During the online feedback session, the psychologist will:

  • Talk through the findings of the assessment
  • Explain the diagnosis (if applicable)
  • Clarify any technical terms in the report
  • Discuss how the results relate to your child’s daily life
  • Walk through recommendations for support at home and school
  • Answer any questions you may have

This is a supportive, collaborative conversation and there is no need to prepare anything in advance.

Next steps after the Autism Assessment

Your psychologist will guide you through what to do next. This may include:

Signposting to helpful services, such as Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, psychology supports, or social skills programmes.

Providing referral forms needed to access services

✓ Suggesting helpful resources

Whether your child is younger, or a teenager, your next steps will be tailored to their unique profile.

What if you have questions later?

While our feedback sessions are thorough, it’s completely normal to need time to digest the report. Many parents think of new questions once they’ve had time to read and reflect.

Our mission is to ensure every family feels informed, supported and confident about the path ahead — from the first enquiry call to the final follow‑up conversation.

We’re here to help you understand your child’s needs clearly and compassionately.
