Your child’s speech and language assessment report is written after their speech and language assessment with one of our CORU-registered Speech and Language Therapists (SLT).
Your child’s speech and language assessment report shares the SLT’s professional understanding of your child.
It will be read and used by the people involved in your child’s life:
- You
- Your child’s school
- Your child’s GP
- Other healthcare professionals who may work with your child
It will give a diagnosis (if applicable) and recommendations for further support or interventions. These might include:
- One-on-one speech and language therapy
- Group speech and language therapy workshops
- Parent and carer workshops
- Strategies for school and home
It will also suggest clear, practical goals to help you understand how the speech and language therapy supports will work to help your child thrive in all areas of their life.
Once your child’s report is ready, we will arrange an online feedback session where the SLT will discuss its findings with you.
What happens in the online feedback session?
The online feedback session is where you discuss your child’s report with the SLT. Together, you will talk through the findings, the recommendations for further support or interventions and the goals.
The SLT can explain any language that feels unclear and answer any questions you may have. The SLT will also guide you through the next steps, including:
- Arranging speech and language therapy sessions
- Signposting you to support services
- Sharing useful information and resources to support you and your child
It may take time for you to think through everything in the report. If you have any follow-up questions, you should always get in touch for a further conversation. Our mission is always to empower families to move forward with clarity and confidence.
