Occupational Therapy Assessment
for children in Ireland
Our Occupational Therapy Assessments help you understand how your child navigates everyday activities, from play and learning to self-care and regulation.
We assess fine and gross motor development, sensory processing, self-care, play and functional skills to build a clear picture of your child’s strengths and where targeted support may help.
Through structured activities, observation and collaboration with parents, we provide a detailed report with practical, real-world recommendations for home and school.
Our HSE- recognised reports are clear and comprehensive, giving you confidence in the next steps for your child’s support.
When an Occupational Therapy Assessment may help your child
A private Occupational Therapy assessment may be helpful if you’ve noticed your child experiencing any of the below
-
Finding fine-motor tasks tricky. (Holding a pencil, using scissors, managing zips)
-
Challenges in gross-motor coordination. (Frequent tripping, difficulty with balance, stairs or running)
-
Sensory experiences feeling “too much” or “not enough”.
-
Developmental delays. (Later-than-expected milestones for sitting, crawling, walking)
-
Daily self-care tasks being harder than expected.
-
Finding emotional or self-regulation challenging.
-
Challenges with attention, focus, or organising tasks.
-
Differences in early social participation.
-
Visual or perceptual challenges.
What to expect during an Occupational Therapy Assessment
Our experienced CORU registered Occupational Therapists [OT] carry out the in-clinic assessment using observations, structured tasks and input from parents or teachers.
We meet your child at their pace and work closely with your family to identify supports that feel right for your child’s journey.
Enquire & book an assessment
Once your enquiry is received we will contact you and explain our assessment process, pricing and answer any initial queries you may have.
If you wish to proceed, you will receive online questionnaires for you to complete.
In Clinic Assessment
The Occupational Therapist uses both standardised and non-standardised tools to gather information. The in person assessment involves observing and engaging directly with your child through age-appropriate, play-based and structured activities. The focus is not only on what your child can do, but how they approach tasks, manage challenges and respond to different requests.
Your child’s Occupational Therapy Assessment Report and Feedback
Following the assessment, our OT prepares a detailed written report summarising their findings. Our reports are recognised by the HSE and schools nationwide.
When the report is finalised, we will arrange an online feedback session where you can discuss the findings with our OT. They will explain the report, answer your questions, and guide you through the recommended next steps, which may include therapy sessions, a home programme or additional supports.
