Assessments We Offer

Expert assessments, clear guidance, and personalised support.

Autism Assessments

Every child experiences the world in their own unique way. Some children are neurodivergent, meaning they process and experience the world in unique ways, rather than following neurotypical patterns. An autism assessment helps you better understand your child’s strengths and needs, and identify the right supports to help them thrive.

Cognitive and Developmental Assessments

We carry out Cognitive and Developmental Assessments to understand how your child thinks, learns, and manages everyday tasks. Developmental Assessments explore areas like memory, attention, problem-solving, and learning. Cognitive Assessments look at practical, social, and communication skills — how your child functions at home, in school, and in the community. These assessments support accurate diagnosis of intellectual or developmental conditions and guide targeted interventions to help their child thrive. Let’s take the next step together.

Speech and Language Assessments

Our CORU-registered Speech and Language Therapists assess key areas like language understanding and expression, social communication, speech clarity, and fluency — such as stammering. Each assessment begins with a caregiver interview to explore specific concerns and uses a blend of age-appropriate formal standardised tools, as well as informal observations to build a full picture of your child’s communication needs. Families receive a detailed report with tailored recommendations to support areas of need and guide intervention. Let’s take the next step together.

Occupational Therapy Assessments

Our Occupational Therapy Assessments explore how your child manages everyday activities like play, learning, and self-care. We look at motor skills, sensory processing, and emotional regulation to understand your child’s strengths and challenges. Using observations, structured tasks, and input from parents or teachers, we create a tailored plan with practical strategies to support your child at home and in school. Let’s take the next step together.

Physiotherapy Assessments

Our Physiotherapy Assessments evaluate your child’s motor skills, strength, coordination, and mobility in a supportive, play-based setting. Through observation, standardised tools, and collaboration with families and schools, we identify any physical challenges impacting daily life. A comprehensive report with tailored recommendations helps guide next steps and supports diagnosis where needed. Let’s take the next step together.

Dyslexia Assessments

Our Dyslexia assessments are carried out by experienced psychologists and are designed to explore your child’s specific learning profile in depth. The process begins with a comprehensive clinical interview to understand your concerns, as well as relevant background information, such as educational, developmental, and family history. Your child will then take part in a structured assessment to explore their literacy skills. This may include evaluating:

  • Phonological awareness
  • Word reading (real and non-words)
  • Reading fluency and comprehension
  • Spelling and written expression

Where appropriate, we may also conduct a cognitive assessment to better understand learning processes like working memory, processing speed, and verbal comprehension. Once the assessment is complete, you’ll receive a comprehensive psychology report with a clear summary of findings, an explanation of your child’s learning profile, and tailored recommendations for intervention and support. You’ll also be invited to a feedback session with the psychologist to review results and discuss the next steps

Dyscalculia Assessments

Dyscalculia assessments focus on identifying specific challenges in numeracy and maths-related skills. These are carried out by a psychologist through a detailed clinical interview with you (online or in-person) to explore your concerns and gather contextual information about your child’s development and learning history. Your child will then complete an assessment tailored to their age and ability, which typically evaluates:

● Number sense and numeracy
● Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving
● Fluency with time, money, and quantity
● Accuracy and speed of calculation

In some cases, we may also include a cognitive assessment to provide a more complete picture of your child’s strengths and areas of need in learning and thinking. Following the assessment, you’ll receive a thorough psychology report with personalised recommendations and guidance on the most effective educational supports and interventions. A follow-up session with the psychologist ensures that you understand the findings and feel confident about what comes next

Autism Assessments

Navigating the early signs of autism can feel overwhelming. We provide expert autism assessments for children – offering clarity, early diagnosis, and a tailored plan for support.

Possible Signs of Autism

It’s normal to feel uncertain about whether an assessment is the right step. We’ll talk you through the signs of autism, listen to your concerns, and offer clear, professional advice based on your child’s individual needs.

We will inform you as to whether or not an autism assessment is clinically indicated. Autism presents differently in every child.

Some possible signs include:

  • Social and communication differences (e.g. understanding social cues, people’s perspectives, boundaries and problem solving)
  • Preferring to play alone or struggling with friendships
  • Delayed language or repetitive speech patterns
  • Repetitive physical movements (e.g. hand-flapping, rocking)
  • Sensitivity to sounds, textures, or lights
  • Strict routines and difficulty with change
  • Strong focus on specific interests
  • Difficulty managing emotions or anxiety
  • Unusual reactions to sensory stimuli
  • Repetitive behaviours and sensory sensitivities

How Autism Assessments Work

Autism assessments are carried out by our multidisciplinary team, including a Clinical, Educational or Counselling Psychologist, supported by a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language Therapist.

The process includes:

  • Clinical interviews with parents or caregivers
  • Direct observation of your child
  • Information gathering from family history, school reports, and structured scenarios

This comprehensive, evidence-based process ensures an accurate clinical diagnosis in line with best practice guidelines.

What Our Families Say

“We had a wonderful experience with Constellation Healthcare for our daughter’s autism diagnosis (age 3). From the kind admin staff to the therapists and psychologist, the whole team made us feel heard and supported. The psychologist was both knowledgeable and very kind in her manner, and we really appreciated the mix of in-person and online appointments, which gave us plenty of time to talk. The report was turned around quickly, written in a neuroaffirmative and reassuring way, which gave us confidence for our daughter’s future needs.”

“Wonderful and very neuro affirmative psychologist. Friendly, informative and child centered. He was just great.”
